My favorite Standard Site authoring platform. 🥰 pckt has a very simple & clean interface. It is so much more attractive than the competing options that I've seen. It has all the options you want in the editor, with none of the junk you don't. Every feature on pckt feels complete & thought out & well designed. I couldn't ask for more.

Blogging: It's more social than ever !
Blogging: It's more social than ever !We want blogging to feel less like posting to the void, and more like sharing with a community. From pckt notes to better discovery, everything we've built over the last few weeks is designed to help bloggers connect. Hey Bloggers! Since our last post, we've shipped a ton of new features and bug fixes. We've been so busy working on making pckt better that we almost forgot to tell you about everything that's new. Let's start with the biggest new feature—pckt notes. Sometimes there's something you want to say that doesn't need a full blog post. pckt notes are a brand new way to share bite-sized information. Think quick thoughts, or live blogging, or small updates throughout your day. Notes can be shared, quoted, or re-blogged, and they can either stand on their own or become part of the conversation around a longer blog post. You can publish notes as either yourself, or as one of your blogs. When posting as your blog, your most recent note will display at the top of your blog's home page, and a notes page will be available to show all of the notes for your blog. Personal notes skip the blog and go straight to the community feed, making it easy to start conversations. The best way to get familiar with how notes work is to start using them for yourself. You will find the note composer underneath the "New Post" button on your dashboard, as well as in a few other locations throughout pckt. A huge thank you to everyone that helped test pckt notes in the few weeks leading up to their release. This is just the beginning for notes. We already have plenty of ideas for what's next and your feedback will help make pckt notes even better. What else is new: Browse read.pckt.blog in Dark Mode. Improved feed rankings for the read page. Get notified when someone subscribes to your blog or interacts with your notes. Add subheadings to customize your post previews. Share posts and notes directly to bluesky. Profile pages showcase your blogs and notes. Buy a custom domain right from pckt with . Improvements to the layout throughout pckt. pckt is now available in English, Spanish, French, and Japanese. (More on this soon.) Choose which languages of posts and notes you'd like to see. Bug fixes: we have a lot more bug fixes but we don't want to bore you ! Thanks for reading, and thank you to everyone who continues to build this community with us. We can't wait to see what you share with pckt notes. One last reminder: our Summer Pass Sale will be coming to an end soon. If you've been enjoying pckt, now is the perfect time to upgrade to an annual plan and save 25%. Sponsored by and valid through July 31st.

Atmosphere 101: Do I need to make an account?
Atmosphere 101: Do I need to make an account? Many of us are accustomed to creating new accounts for every new platform we encounter. On pckt.blog, the experience is different. You may already have an existing account that is compatible with pckt and not even know it! Did you come here from ? Great! You have an account on . Just use your Bluesky username. It should look like: your-name.bsky.social If not, that's okay too. We'll break down exactly what you need to know to get started. pckt is one of many applications built within an open web ecosystem called the Atmosphere. Accounts created within the Atmosphere can be used across many compatible applications. Your account and the app you use are separate things. The same account can be used across different applications, so a Bluesky account can sign in to pckt, and a pckt account can sign in to Bluesky. To sign in to Bluesky with a pckt account: visit the Bluesky login page change the "Hosting Provider" from Bluesky to pds.pckt.cafe sign in using your pckt handle, which looks something like: your-name.pckt.cafe Anatomy of an Atmosphere account. In the Atmosphere, usernames look different than you may be used to. Instead of the typical @username format, a username in the Atmosphere additionally shows where your account data is stored on the web. The username will look like: @username.pckt.cafe The first part of the username looks the same: @username The second part of the username shows where the account lives and who manages your data: .pckt.cafe or another location. If you created your account on Bluesky, your username will look like @username.bsky.social and if your account was created on pckt.blog, your username will look like @username.pckt.cafe In many cases, you won't need to remember where your account is located, because the platform will suggest different locations matching the first part of the username. Another type of Atmosphere account. In addition to these two part usernames, another type of username exists in the Atmosphere. These usernames will look like a website: @nytimes.com for example. When a username looks like this, we won’t be able to easily identify where the account lives, but, we are able to confirm that the person with this username is the owner of that website. This is useful because, if The New York Times publishes something to the Atmosphere, their username being @nytimes.com confirms their identity, since it matches their website: nytimes.com. Migrating your Atmosphere account. One of the perks of having an account in the Atmosphere, is the ability to migrate your account from one hosting provider to another. If you are unhappy with moderation, or other data protections on Bluesky, you can move your account to pckt or another provider. You are not locked in to one service being in charge of your data like you are on other platforms. We won't go into detail on how to migrate here, but there are many great tools to assist with migration like PDS Moover, EU-Haul, and more. To reiterate, your account in the Atmosphere is portable and under your control. You can use it across the many different applications in the Atmosphere, , , , , to name a few. If you want to move your data from one host to another, you’re more than welcome to. And if you own a website you want to be associated with, you can use your website as your username. Atmosphere accounts are one of many benefits of the open social web. And we’ve barely touched the surface of what's possible in this blog post. If this post was at all helpful, leave a ⭐️ below to recommend it to others across the Atmosphere :) Happy blogging, pckt

Standard.site link cards are coming to Bluesky 👀
Standard.site link cards are coming to Bluesky 👀The Atmosphere keeps getting a little more blog shaped. Starting today, will display enhanced link cards when you share a post from any powered publication. These new cards will include additional publication details built directly into the post preview. This means when you share a post from platforms like , , , , or any future Standard.site publisher, Bluesky can display much richer information about the publication behind the post. Instead of the generic link previews that are prevalent across the web that just show an image, title, and description, posts can now include things like: the publisher's icon theme colors from the blog publisher and author details a direct link to the publication prompts to subscribe to the blog It makes blog posts feel more alive when shared across the Atmosphere. Instead of posts feeling like detached URLs, posts are able to have much more personality and better reflect the publication's actual identity. If you've been along with us for a while, you know that we care deeply about atmospheric publishing. Standard.site exists to make posts easier to discover across many platforms. A blog post shouldn't be trapped inside one app. Whether that post is published on pckt, Leaflet, Offprint, or somewhere else entirely, if it follows the Standard.site format, it can travel across readers, feeds, search engines, and future applications built on top of this standard. Discovery no longer has to depend on a single centralized platform like Substack or Medium. Standard.site posts are already being indexed and surfaced across a growing ecosystem of readers and discovery tools like: The new Bluesky cards are a small feature on the surface, but they point towards a much larger picture. An ecosystem where long-form publishing can be much more open and connected. We can share community between many different apps and grow together rather than apart. As more people publish with Standard.site, and more developers build tools around it, writers and readers alike will benefit from better discovery and interoperability across the Atmosphere. With Bluesky, we're already exploring ideas like: search experiences for Standard.site content indexes of posts on writer profiles the ability to recommend articles subscribing to publications right from the app More than just a social network, the open social web is becoming a publishing network, where written works can be widely distributed in new and exciting ways. We're very excited about building the next generation of blogging. One that feels much more social, connected, and alive. Thank you for being with us along the way. -pckt
