One desktop app for Bluesky and the Atmosphere
BiFrost is a free, open-source desktop client for Bluesky and the wider AT Protocol network, built in Rust for Windows, macOS and Linux. It's a native app, not a website in a frame. There's no telemetry, and every connection to an outside service stays off until you turn it on.
- Your pinned feeds and lists as tabs, or deck mode with columns side by side
- Threads with reply lines, rich quotes, an image viewer, GIFs and built-in video
- Keeps your place in every feed, with per-feed filters (hide reposts, media only, minimum likes)
- Grouped notifications, desktop notifications and a tray icon
- A composer with alt-text reminders, thread splitting, drafts and scheduled posts
- Direct messages, including group chats
- Local full-text search of everything you've seen, plus offline reading
- Atmosphere apps built in: Streamplace live video with chat, and Standard.site and WhiteWind articles
- Several accounts, OAuth sign-in, and tokens kept in your system's credential store
Everything is included and nothing is behind a subscription. BiFrost was built with AI assistance, but the app itself has no AI features.
