No attempt to hide it huh @trezy.codes? 😁 > HappyView is the best way to build an AppView for the AT Protocol. Found an excuse to try you out @happyview.dev. Will be judging you. 🧐

5/20/26, 9:06 PM

not sure about @happyview.dev if its more slices shaped but idk I think you can just ingest arbitrary lexicons

5/14/26, 9:14 PM

HappyView v2.8 is out! Also there's a blog on the docs site now! Also the website will now sear itself into your brain with the bright colors! 😎🧡 #atproto

HappyView v2.8 | HappyView

Backfill cancellation, a rebuilt permission system, and a brand new docs site.

I think this collection should probably be reserved for app logos, but would you want logos for ecosystem projects in it? For example, I have logos for @happyview.dev and @gamesgamesgamesgames.games, but they're not the logos one would typically show on a login page like the rest of these.

5/14/26, 2:08 PM

New interface for tracking backfills in @happyview.dev. It updates in real-time to provide a much better view into how the backfill is going. Backfill jobs can also resume after a restart now, which wasn't always the case. #atproto

5/14/26, 12:24 PM

how about a swordfight between @sprk.so and @happyview.dev and the winner gets to keep using fraunces

5/13/26, 10:37 PM

@happyview.dev backfill experiment, partial success. youandme.at connection backfill was snappy, but HappyView reports no progress on Bluesky follows. @trezy.codes any suggestions? No errors or warnings in the logs.

5/13/26, 9:34 PM

When you say Buckets, are you referring to Permissioned Spaces? Because I'm just gonna point out that @happyview.dev has an experimental implementation of spaces. πŸ‘€

5/13/26, 3:40 PM

Yup, I think lexicon-agnostic, full-network ingestion is where building your own AppView makes the most sense. If you're using lexicons, @happyview.dev and Contrail make a ton of sense. If you're doing something like Sill, custom + Constellation is likely the better option.

5/13/26, 3:07 PM

@happyview.dev? Contrail?

5/13/26, 1:31 PM

no.. that will add too much dependency on bluesky. currently for the feeds, I am running my own appview thanks to @happyview.dev which overrides the appview rate limits. if I were to bring bluesky feeds into photosky, the system will be too slow.

Streaming more Guestbook work NOW! Todayβ€”a day in which, full disclosure, the coding Gods HAVE NOT been smiling upon meβ€”we'll try something new: connecting the guestbook to @happyview.dev to solve all our AppView woes once and forever. - www.twitch.tv/essentialran... - stream.place/essentialran...

Working on ?????? (I have no clue tbh)

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @happyview.dev #atproto

5/13/26, 2:03 AM

✨ New update: - Added a "network" feed in /social so you can see what all users are playing (still defaults to following, natch) - Added @happyview.dev powered "Trending now" section to our /discover page - New layouts for social, lists, and profile pages - Updated list share modal - Reduced scopes!

5/13/26, 12:32 AM

I'm finally working on proper theming for @happyview.dev and it feels so gooooooood. I've not done a vaporwave design in about a million years, so it felt like time. I'm calling the theme Neon Beach (light mode) and Neon Lagoon (dark mode). Screenshots soooooon. 😎 #atproto

Who says open source CI/CD should be simple? πŸ˜… This is the complete pipeline for @happyview.dev CI/CD pipeline. It handles running tests, building Docker images, publishing npm packages, etc.

5/11/26, 7:07 PM

@flo-bit.dev and I are working on making sure this works between @happyview.dev and Contrail, but a formal spec for what that looks like would be nice, too.

5/9/26, 2:25 PM

I'm working through @dholms.at's latest dev diary. Most of the things that impact the @happyview.dev impl (e.g. URI scheme) are easy changes. However, he describes space types as NSIDs that resolve to Lexicon documents which define the modality of a space (forum, group chat, album, etc). #atproto

5/9/26, 1:04 PM

I’d love to be involved if that’s okay? I’m thinking about this for @happyview.dev plugins.

5/9/26, 12:42 PM

nice. (cc @happyview.dev )

5/8/26, 9:58 PM

A handful of people have told me they'd like a managed @happyview.dev service (i.e. HappyView SaaS). Anybody else interested in this? I'm trying to decide if this is worth spending my time on. πŸ€” #atproto

5/4/26, 9:18 PM

Hey y'all, I'm looking for some work to bridge the gap while I continue working on @cartridge.dev and @happyview.dev. If you have contract work for #atproto projects (planning, code, architecture), I'd be delighted to help. DM me with details. #atproto #OpenToWork #LookingForWork

Today is docs day. - fix some out-of-date docs for @happyview.dev - finish and publish the docs for the Pentaract (@gamesgamesgamesgames.games) #atproto

5/4/26, 2:46 PM

1 hour to πŸ”΄ go time! I'll be building an atproto app with @happyview.dev. Make sure to come hang out for the adventure! #atproto #GameDev stream.place/trezy.codes

Why not? @happyview.dev could easily handle the AppView. The hardest part would be storing all the music, so offer a custom PDS where upload sizes aren't constrained (at least are less constrained than bsky PDS).

permissioned spaces in @happyview.dev πŸ‘€ #atproto

v2.4.0 is out! You can use the new dev.happyview.* XRPCs to create third party applications, allowing users to utilize your AppView without having to manually create API clients for them. 3P clients can be rate-limited and managed just like 1P clients. #atproto

OAuth API: Self-Service API Clients | HappyView

4/28/26, 7:12 PM

Totally get it. It's v cool either way. I'd be happy to talk about how @happyview.dev could help with all of this, too. πŸ‘€

4/28/26, 3:44 PM

i have run a few side projects and there are pretty much zero costs. Bluesky API + microcosm.blue APIs = no backend. The only things that would require money is a custom appview, something @happyview.dev is solving with one click railway deploy, and PDS hosting to new signups, $5 vps can host

4/27/26, 10:28 PM

To really illustrate the point, here's a screenshot of the old Railway template vs the new one. @happyview.dev v1 was /so/ complex to setup. πŸ˜… #atproto

4/26/26, 1:54 PM

Just updated the Railway deployment docs to add the new templates! Choose a database, generate a couple of secrets, and you'll have a full, ready-to-rock @happyview.dev instance. I've run it several times to make sure everything's right and it even surprises me how quick and easy it is. πŸ˜… #atproto

Deploy on Railway | HappyView

The fastest way to get HappyView running is with Railway. Choose the database you want and these templates will deploy HappyView with a single click:

I’m renaming @happyview.dev to bsqy so it can be pronounced bisque-y.

4/24/26, 11:20 PM

It's time! HappyView 2 is finally ready for public consumption. 😎 I've been plugging away at it for about a month now. The new version is faster, more reliable, and it's packed with new features. If you're considering building an atproto app, I IMPLORE you... check out @happyview.dev. ❀️ #atproto

Releasing HappyView 2 Into the Wild - One binary, no companion services, and a lot fewer moving parts.

HappyView v2 ships as a single binary with native OAuth, built-in backfill and real-time indexing, SQLite support, and a new WASM plugin system. No more companion services required.

4/24/26, 7:32 PM

Also FWIW, @happyview.dev is a really solid choice for building such an AppView.

4/19/26, 9:21 PM

You know… @happyview.dev makes it really easy to build an ATProto app from scratch. Just saying. πŸ‘€

4/19/26, 9:18 PM

Anybody up to help me by reviewing the docs and giving @happyview.dev v2 a spin? I promise it's easy to set up. 😎 #atproto

4/17/26, 10:51 PM

Awesome to see @happyview.dev in the wild! I'll be releasing 2.0 soon which adds a ton of new features and makes the setup a bit easier. You should pop into the Cartridge Discord so we can chat about it more. ❀️

More updates: 1. A fully working Appview thanks to @happyview.dev 2. Features that photographers care about - exif search, location search, category search - all working without hitting the rate limit thanks the HappyView 3. OpenMap is now 100% working. photosky.at

4/14/26, 4:04 PM

Totally reorganized the sidebar for @happyview.dev v2. The amount of functionality packed into this thing has surpassed absurd. 😎

4/14/26, 2:31 PM

Cleaning up the docs for @happyview.dev. Updating stuff that's out-of-date, adding docs for all the new functionality. 2.0 release soooooooon.
