I have often thought it would be cool for there to be a co-operative social medium that's more free speech oriented (but still doesn't tolerate violent or hateful speech or violent ideologies). But I am not an experienced sysadmin and I don't think I have the right personality for democratic stewardship. Weren't you on the technical team of #SocialCoop? Maybe you could start one? Could be small scale at first. If you do, I would join. But I don't think I would be good at being one of those who execute the will of the majority. I can get quite emotional and aggressive and I'm not good as following orders.

I ended up using deer.social client for a bit and it just lets you click on the handle on the profile page. So much nicer.

Like the value proposition is not "Bluesky is the good guy and Twitter is the bad guy" It's "No one entity can make a decision for the whole of the platform" Bluesky can't dictate what deer.social or deck.blue do, they have no authority over it They also can't tell blackskyweb.xyz what to do

Admittedly, I have known about deer.social and Zeppelin.social. I haven't bothered to use them, but after these events, it feels tempting to. What other clients are out there? Kinda want to raise awareness in case the "official" app gets even worse

So, I'm currently using witchsky.app on desktop, which descends indirectly from forks of deer.social Deer has/had a specific set of options available for customisation which got built on. See screenshots

Heron (@heron.tunji.dev) IS AMAZING. My only wish is that it had some of the configuration options that descend from deer.social so you could customise things for CDN, appview, constellation and/or gating.
